The simple form of the Hoddles Creek House is nestled into the rolling hills of a picturesque greenfield agricultural site in the Yarra Valley.
Our Melbourne based clients both grew up in the Yarra Valley and had a strong interest in moving their young family back to the region to contribute to small scale agriculture and become a part of a close-knit regional community. The existing vineyard is being re-established to become a working farm and lifestyle property.
The folded roof form is design to sit quietly in the landscape with the gentle sloping form taking a visual cue from the surrounding topography. The living spaces have been carefully curated to both views and sun, commanding an impressive panorama across the hills.
At the top of the hill a large farm shed has been designed to site alongside the house and accommodate a future cellar door.
The home combines the pragmatic and enduring qualities of a simple farmhouse with refined natural materials and elements that add warmth and comfort to its spaces.
